SOMERS, Wis. (Feb. 26, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball squad was victimized by a 21-3 run midway through Thursday night's Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division clash, falling 60-46 to second-ranked Lewis University inside DeSimone Gymnasium in the regular season finale.

The Rangers (21-6, 14-4 GLVC) and Flyers (27-1, 17-1 GLVC) traded jabs for the first 17 minutes of the game with three lead changes and nine ties. Sarah Mlachnik drained a trey with 3:19 left in the opening half to knot the score at 24 but UW-Parkside went ice cold for the next nine minutes, as the Flyers scored 21 of the next 24 points and forced the Rangers to miss 17 of their next 18 shots from the floor. Lewis enjoyed a 35-27 advantage at the break and netted the first 10 points of the second half to stake an 18-point edge.

UW-Parkside refused to surrender, closing within 10 off a Stephanie Furr jumper with 8:26 left, closing out a 12-4 spurt but the Green and White were unable to come any closer as the nationally-ranked Flyers escaped DeSimone with a 14-point win.

UW-Parkside stormed out of the gate, forcing a pair of turnovers and scoring the opening four points of the contest. Lewis tied the game at four and for the next 12 minutes neither team led by more than a possession before the visitors mounted their 21-3 spurt to take control of the contest.

Gaby Bronson paced the Ranger offense, collecting 11 points while Furr added 10. Sarah Mlachnik led Parkside in the paint, grabbing 10 rebounds along with three steals while Tara Knapstein had eight points off the bench.

Mariyah Brawner-Henley tallied a double-double to lead Lewis, scoring 20 points while securing 15 rebounds while Jamie Johnson had 11 points.

UW-Parkside shot 40.7 percent (11-for-27) from the floor in the first half before seeing its percentage plummet in the second stanza, hitting just nine of its 44 opportunities from the field (20.5 percent).

Parkside begins postseason play on Friday, March 6, traveling to Saint Charles, Missouri for the GLVC Tournament Quarterfinals.
