RENSSELAER, Ind. (Dec. 5, 2015)-- Despite owning a 15-point second half lead the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball squad was unable to overcome a slew of turnovers, ultimately falling 67-63 to host Saint Joseph's College in a Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division battle inside Scharf Fieldhouse.

A Stephanie Furr jumper with 8:35 left in the third period gave the visiting Rangers (5-3, 1-1 GLVC) its biggest advantage of the game at 34-19. The Pumas (6-3, 1-1 GLVC) utilized an aggressive press and tallied 13 of the next 15 points to slice the gap to just four with 4:59 left in the third quarter. UW-Parkside led 46-40 heading into the final period and seized an 11-point gap off a Tara Knapstein three with 8:46 left in the game. The pesky Pumas mounted one more charge, reclaiming the lead for the first time since early in the contest on a Lauren Davis three with 3:12 remaining. The SJC lead swelled to five with 1:50 left, part of a 23-7 spurt and the hosts held the lead the rest of the way en route to the four point win.

A barrage of threes in the opening 20 minutes of play helped the Rangers enjoy a 28-17 advantage at the halftime break.  The two teams traded leads in the opening three minutes of the first period before visiting UW-Parkside rattled off eight straight to secure an 11-5 edge with 2:08 left. Furr ignited the run, hitting consecutive threes before Tara Knapstein capped the rally with a layup.

The Pumas whittled the Ranger advantage to just two early in the second period but the Rangers responded with 11 of the next 15 points to secure its first double digit edge of the contest. Kristin Conniff and Furr each hit a pair of threes during the run while Asiah Lawson drained a trey with 1:23 left as the Rangers enjoyed a 28-17 edge at the break.

Conniff turned in a 20-point performance for the second straight GLVC game, finishing with 22 points, including four treys. Furr added 16 points with four threes of her own while also nabbing eight rebounds and a team-best five assists. Knapstein added eight points and seven boards along with four assists.

Lauren Davis uncorked a game-high 30 points to lead Saint Joseph's while Courtney Kvachkoff had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Abbey Titzer was the third Puma in double figures, scoring 10 points.

UW-Parkside hit 11 threes on the afternoon and enjoyed a 35-27 rebounding edge but was plagued with 25 turnovers, allowing the Pumas to own a 31-12 edge in points off turnovers.

The Rangers are idle next week, focusing on final exams before resuming non-conference play on Dec. 18 with a neutral site showdown against Concordia University (Oregon) at the Sodexo Tip-Off Classic in Seattle, Washington.
