(Dec. 3, 2015)-- Kristin Conniff hit five threes and piled on 24 points as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball opened Great Lakes Valley Conference action with a 68-61 victory over East Division rival University on Indianapolis on Thursday evening inside Nicoson Hall.

Conniff was on fire in the opening minutes of the game, scoring 11 straight points to give the visiting Rangers (5-2, 1-0 GLVC) a 15-4 advantage with 4:55 left in the first period. Conniff's scoring exhibition included back-to-back threes, turning a tie into an 11-point Ranger buffer.

UW-Parkside's lead was extended to 13 off a
Stephanie Furr layup but the host Greyhounds (1-8, 0-1 GLVC) slowly chipped into the lead, trailing by nine at 21-12 at the quarter break before pulling with four with one minute left in the first half.
Tara Knapstein hit a jumper in the final minute as Parkside enjoyed a 31-25 lead at the halftime intermission.

The Greyhounds gradually chipped into the Ranger edge before using a 7-0 run to tie the game at 44-44 with 1:45 left in the third period. Parkside counter punched with five straight points, getting a jumper from
Stephanie Furr and three from
Rani Singh and enjoyed a tenuous 49-36 edge heading into the final period.

UIndy narrowed the gap to a single point early in the fourth but a layup and a three from
Tara Knapstein and a Furr trey extended the Ranger lead to nine and the visitors led by more than one possession the rest of the way to snag the seven-point win.

Conniff ripped off a career-high 24 points to lead all scorers, finishing five-for-11 from beyond the arc. Knapstein added 15 points along with seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals, while Furr chipped in 11 points and five boards.

Nicole Anderson led UIndy with 22 points while Princess German contributed 17 points.

UW-Parkside shot just 39.3 percent (24-for-61) from the floor but canned nine treys and generated 21 Greyhound turnovers, owning a 25-8 advantage in points off turnovers. The Green and White never trailed in a game featuring three ties.

The Rangers return to the hardwood on Saturday, facing Saint Joseph's College at 1 p.m. in a GLVC East Division showdown in Rensselear, Indiana.
