ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (Nov. 22, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team finished off the Flyer Challenge with an unblemished record on Sunday afternoon, dispatching Davis & Elkins College 84-70 inside Neil Carey Arena.
 
UW-Parkside (3-0) never trailed in the contest, pulling away midway through the opening half. The game was tied 8-8 with 5:28 left in the opening period before the Rangers mounted a 14-2 run to seize a 12-point lead with 9:07 left in the second period. The run was part of a bigger 30-6 stretch for the Green and White, establishing a 24-point lead on a Shelby Cheston layup with 5:24 remaining and enjoyed a 46-23 lead at the halftime intermission.
 
The Senators (0-5) slowly chipped into the Ranger lead in the second half, closing within seven with 3:47 left on a Stephanie Wooten three-pointer but the Rangers scored nine of the next 10 points to reestablish a double-digit lead on their way to the 14-point win.
 
Tara Knapstein led the Ranger offensive attack, scoring 18 points and dishing out four assists while securing seven rebounds. Cheston tallied 17 points and seven boards in 20 minutes of action off the bench, finishing eight-for-10 from the floor. Kristin Conniff hit four threes and ended the game with 16 points while Stephanie Furr had 16 points and five rebounds.
 
Wooten was a one-woman wrecking crew of Davis & Elkins, scoring 40 of the team's 70 points. Wooten hit five threes on the game and finished 15-for-23 from the floor. Kali Wilburn chipped in nine points for the Senators.
 
UW-Parkside hit 10 threes in the contest with seven coming in the opening half and finished shooting at a 43.8 percent clip (32-for-73) from the field.
 
The Rangers return to the hardwood on Thanksgiving, facing Northwood University at the Mount McKinley Bank North Star Invitational in Fairbanks, Alaska.
