ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (Nov. 21, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team led wire-to-wire on Saturday afternoon, opening the Flyer Challenge with a dominating 72-50 victory over Alderson Broaddus University inside Neil Carey Arena.
 
The Rangers (2-0) owned a tenuous 6-4 lead on the Battlers (0-4) three minutes into the contest before scoring 12 of the next 15 points to secure its first double-digit advantage of the game with a Stephanie Furr layup with 3:45 left in the opening period.  UW-Parkside was held scoreless over the rest of the first quarter as Alderson Broaddus slowly chipped into the Ranger lead, pulling within a possession at 21-19 with 4:07 left in the second period.
 
The Green and White responded with the next seven points, getting a pair of jumpers from Kristin Conniff and a three from Rani Singh before taking a 30-20 lead into the locker room at half.
 
The Rangers maintained a comfortable double digit cushion the entire second half, leading by as many as 26 points on their way to the 22-point win.
 
Conniff and Tara Knapstein led the Ranger scoring charge, both dropping 14 points while Shelby Cheston came off the bench and tallied 10 points, six boards, and two blocks.
 
Rachel Ashley was the lone Battler in double figures, collecting 12 points while Krista Crawshaw added seven points and five boards off the bench.
 
UW-Parkside crushed Alderson Broaddus on the glass, owning a 43-24 rebounding edge including a 17-5 edge on the offensive end.
 
The Rangers return to the court tomorrow afternoon, closing out the Flyer Challenge with a 1 p.m. showdown against Davis & Elkins College.
