EAST PEORIA, Ill. (Nov. 20, 2015)-- The nation's fifth-ranked squad proved to be too difficult of an obstacle to overcome on Friday night as the fourth-seeded University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team was eliminated from the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament by top-seed Rockhurst University 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-23) inside the EastSide Centre.

The Rangers (19-12) scored six of the opening nine points of the opening set, receiving four kills from First Team All-GLVC selection Rebecca Roembke during the run. The nationally-ranked Hawks (31-2) answered with eight of the next nine points to establish an 11-7 lead. Rockhurst played with the lead the rest of the set, collecting the 25-21 win.

RU claimed five of the opening six points of set two and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire in the 25-15 set victory. The Hawks scored seven of the first eight points in set three but UW-Parkside refused to go away without a fight, scoring 10 of the next 12 to stake an 11-9 lead. Rockhurst scored six straight points to recapture the lead and maintained the upper hand the rest of the set, scratching out the 25-23 win to secure the match and advance to the GLVC Tournament Semifinals. Facing match point, the Rangers strung together three straight points, getting a pair of kills from Jackie Langer and an ace from Meghan Conley but an attack error ultimately sealed the set for RU.

Roembke posted a match-high 14 kills while adding 16 digs defensively while Langer contributed 13 kills along with 15 digs. Hickson distributed a match-best 36 assists while Conley racked up 22 digs.

UW-Parkside seniors Conley, Jeni Heller, and Jessi Mainczyk capped off their careers on Friday night with 73 victories over the past four seasons, winning over 60 percent of matches played and becoming the first class since 1990 to have a winning record all four years.
