(Nov. 15, 2015)-- A balanced scoring attack proved to be a winning formula for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon, cruising past Tiffin University 71-60 in the season opener inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

The Rangers (1-0) jumped out to an early 9-2 just over two minutes into the game but the Dragons (0-1) answered with the next eight points to seize their first and ultimately only lead of the game at 10-9 with 5:24 left in the first period.
Shelby Cheston quickly restored the lead to the Green and White with a layup and a jumper before
Tara Knapstein drained a three to give the hosts a six-point buffer with 3:04 left in the first period. Tiffin remained within striking distance the rest of the quarter with UW-Parkside enjoying a 25-22 lead after 10 minutes of play.

Parkside earned separation in the second period, utilizing a 9-0 run to build a double-digit advantage. The Rangers' lead swelled to 17 after a pair of Kauri Jenson free throws as the home side took a 46-31 lead into the halftime break.

UW-Parkside maintained at least a nine-point cushion the entire second half en route to the 11-point win.

11 of the 13 Rangers seeing action scored a basket, including
Lauren Boerger who led the way with 14 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. The redshirt freshman additionally dished out a team-best five assists.
Stephanie Furr and Jenson added nine points apiece with
Kristin Conniff adding eight.
Jessica Prince secured 10 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end of the court while
Taylor Stephen chipped in six point and seven boards.

Tiffin's Bre Nauman paced all scorers with 23 points while also adding nine rebounds while Alsion Schirmer and Allie Miller added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Rangers dominated the glass, owning a 51-31 rebounding edge, including 22 offensive boards while making more free throws (20) than the Dragons had attempts (14).

UW-Parkside returns to the court on Saturday, facing Alderson Broaddus University at the Lewis Tournament in Romeoville, Illinois to begin a nine-game road swing.
