Box ScoreSOMERS, Wis. (Oct. 30, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball squad kicked off their final homestand with a victory, 3-1 (25-10, 19-25, 25-19, 25-14), over Great Lakes Valley Conference rival William Jewell College at Desimone Gymnasium.
The Rangers (17-7, 8-4 GLVC) started out strong in the opening set putting an 11-2 run together midway through the set. During the run, UW-Parkside had three team blocks and
Katie Adams had her hands in two of the three. The Cardinals (7-18, 1-11 GLVC) did not help their cause offensively with 12 attacking errors in the first set, and the Rangers capitalized with the 25-10 rout.
The second set opened with a Parkside block party. The first three Ranger points were the result of a block, and
Lexi Turek assisted on all three. William Jewell would not go quietly, and mounted a comeback win, 25-19.
Set number three started out close with the teams tied early, 2-2. Then
Lauren Hickson went on a seven serve run for the Rangers including an ace. Parkside rode the lead to a 25-19 win. The Cardinals kept playing tough in the fourth set, but the Rangers stepped on the gas pedal after the score was tied 7-7, and rolled to a final set victory, 25-14.
Lauren Hickson led the team with 36 assists and 17 digs for the match.
Jackie Langer also finished with a double-double by serving up 11 digs and putting down 15 kills. The Rangers were also aided by
