LEBANON, Ill. (Oct. 2, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team needed just 35 seconds to get on the board on Friday afternoon, but was kept at bay the remainder of the contest, allowing host McKendree University to crawl back and snag the 2-1 victory in a Great Lakes Valley Conference clash at Leemon Field.
 
Vianey Hernandez needed just 35 seconds to find the back of the net, scoring her team-leading fourth goal of the year off an assist from Taylor Schiffer-Jander to give the Rangers (2-6-1, 1-5-1 GLVC) the early edge. The helper was Schiffer-Jander's second of the season.
 
The homestanding Bearcats (5-3-2, 4-2-1 GLVC) answered in the 28th minute with Danielle Hareb scoring off a Chelsea Whittaker assist to even the score. The two squads remained tied at the halftime break with the Rangers enjoying a 13-6 edge In shots, including six of the eight taken on goal.
 
McKendree tallied the dagger in the 61st minute with Sydnee Carroll scoring to give the hosts the 2-1 lead in what turned out to be the final goal of the game. UW-Parkside mustered just two shots over the final 29 minutes, getting outgunned 10-4 by the Bearcats in the second half.
 
Sarah Dobrowolski netted four saves in goal for the Rangers, playing all 90 minutes while McKendree's Taylor Zerbe collected the win, making eight saves on the afternoon.
 
Parkside concludes its Illinois road trip on Sunday, facing the University of Illinois Springfield at 12 p.m.
