(Sept. 28, 2014)-- The 14th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team tallied its third straight road shutout on Sunday afternoon, emerging from Kiwanis Stadium with a 1-0 victory over the University of Illinois Springfield to remain atop the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings.

Emily Konior provided the game's lone goal, scoring her fourth of the season just 61 seconds into the game. The senior scored after her penalty kick attempt rebounded back to her as Illinois Springfield goalkeeper Paige Polonus was unable to corral the initial penalty shot. UW-Parkside enjoyed a 1-0 lead at the break holding a commanding 13-2 edge in shots. Neither squad was able to find the back of the net in the final half of play as the Rangers finished their first road swing of the season unscathed, winning all four games during the trip.

The Rangers (7-0-1, 5-0-1 GLVC) closed the game with an 18-3 advantage in shots, including a 10-2 edge in shots on frame.

Mallory Geurts collected the clean sheet, stopping two shots in 90 minutes of work. Her counterpart, Polonus made nine saves in the losing effort.

UW-Parkside claimed its third consecutive shutout and seventh of the season. The Ranger defense has now gone 287 minutes without allowing a goal while outscoring foes by a 22-1 margin.

Parkside returns to the friendly confines of Wood Road Field on Friday afternoon, hosting Bellarmine University at 3:30 p.m.
