(Sept. 14, 2014)-- An early goal was not enough for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-1 to visiting Drury University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference clash at Wood Road Field.

Jorge Ontiveros got the Rangers (2-2, 0-2 GLVC) on the board in the fifth minute, scoring off a pass from
Antonio Gonzalez got the early 1-0 advantage. The lead proved fleeting with the Panthers (3-1. 1-1 GLVC) equalizing the score just under two minutes later with Mike Lee finding Ben Bruce to tie the game at 1-1. The two sides remained deadlocked at the half with Drury owning a 6-3 edge in shots.

Drury's Matt Clarkin provided the dagger in the 50th minute, netting the game-winner off an Alec Nagel assist in what turned out to be the contest's final score.

The Panthers finished the game with a slight 16-13 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in shots on target.

Marcos Perez logged all 90 minutes in goal for the Rangers, making six saves in the losing effort. Drury's Logan Ponche tallied three saves to earn the win.

The Rangers return to action on Friday, hitting the road for the first time this season, venturing to Kansas City to face Rockhurst University.
