SOMERS, Wis. (Mar 11, 2014)-- With snow still blanketing the Case Softball Complex, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball team's scheduled home doubleheaders this weekend have been shifted southward. The Rangers will open Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday at noon in Kirksville, Mo., against Truman State University before closing the weekend with a 12 p.m. twinbill on Saturday against Quincy University.

The threat of weather has also moved the weekend series from Saturday-Sunday to Friday-Saturday. The order of opponents will flip with Quincy (9-11, 1-3 GLVC) remaining on Saturday while Truman State (10-3, 4-0 GLVC) moves from a Sunday affair to a Friday showdown.

The Rangers (0-4) were originally slated to open up Great Lakes Valley Conference play last week in Saint Louis before the doubleheaders against Maryville University and University of Missouri-Saint Louis were scuttled due to poor field conditions.

The games will be the first in nearly a month for the softball squad after a wave of cancellations. UW-Parkside has yet to play outside, having opened the season on Feb. 22 at the Rosemont Dome in suburban Chicago. The Rangers squared off against two ranked teams at the dome tournament, nearly knocking off then 17th-ranked Wayne State University before ultimately falling 1-0 on Feb. 23 as the Warriors pushed across the winning score in the bottom of the seventh.
