Contact: Mark Albanese, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Media RelationsBox ScoreTIFFIN, Ohio (Nov. 22, 2014)-- Getting tremendous bench production for the second straight game, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball squad emerged from Ohio unscathed, downing Tiffin University 60-42 on Saturday to improve to 4-0 on the young season. The Ranger reserves nearly outscored the entire Dragons lineup, dropping 41 points on the afternoon, including 15 from
Kristin Conniff.
Tiffin (0-2) raced out to a 9-0 lead just over three minutes into the contest. Conniff broke up the run with a three-pointer, sparking an 11-0 Ranger rally to claim the lead.
Gaby Bronson sunk a pair of jumpers during the run as did
Stephanie Furr. The Dragons reestablished the lead and owned a 14-11 edge with 10:15 left in the opening half before UW-Parkside countered with an 11-2 surge to claim a six-point advantage with 4:10 left in the half. The Rangers played from ahead the rest of the contest, enjoying a 26-20 lead at the halftime intermission.
The Dragons scored the first basket of the second half to pull within four but a 7-0 Ranger run increased the buffer to 11 points. Parkside enjoyed at least an eight-point lead the rest of the way, cruising to its fourth win in as many tries.
Conniff came off the bench to lead the Rangers, scoring 15 points with nine coming from the charity stripe. The junior additionally added seven rebounds while fellow reserve Furr tallied 12 points and six boards, shooting six-for-eight from the floor.
Gaby Bronson scored 10 points and added five assists while
Brittney Fair added eight points.
Sarah Mlachnik had a team-high eight rebounds with
Tara Knapstein collecting a game-high three blocks.
Bre Nauman led Tiffin with 15 points and nine rebounds while Kaylee Patton added 12 points.
The Rangers limited the Dragons to shooting just 27.8 percent (15-for-54) from the field while outscoring the hosts by an impressive 41-9 margin off the bench. UW-Parkside outrebounded Tiffin 42-35 and held a 9-2 edge in second chance points.
UW-Parkside returns to the hardwood on Tuesday night, taking on Upper Iowa University at 6 p.m.
