RENSSELAER, Ind. (Oct. 26, 2014)-- Two goals in the opening half was more than enough for the sixth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer squad on Sunday afternoon, netting the 2-0 win over Saint Joseph's College to secure at least a share of the 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season title.

Jillian Hetfleisch struck first for the Rangers (14-0-2, 12-0-2 GLVC), scoring her fifth goal of the season off a feed from Jenna Brzeski in the 23rd minute. UW-Parkside's lead swelled to two 10 minutes later with Karley Mecko netting her eighth goal of the season in the 33rd minute, heading the ball past the keeper on a corner kick with Niekie Pellens netting assist number 11 of the year.

The Rangers outshot the Pumas by a 10-1 margin in the opening half and finished the contest with a 15-4 edge in shots while allowing no shots on goal to collect shutout number 12 of the 2014 campaign.

Goalkeeper Mallory Geurts claimed the win, earning the clean sheet after logging all 90 minutes between the posts. St. Joseph's Melissa Kuhar absorbed the loss, making five saves while allowing both goals.

UW-Parkside, winners of seventh straight, own a one-game lead over second-place Bellarmine University with one game left to play in the regular season. The Rangers under Head Coach Troy Fabiano previously won GLVC regular season titles in 2004 and 2008 and are guaranteed a home game in the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Parkside closes out the regular season on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Lewis University at 3:30 p.m. at Wood Road Field.
