SOMERS, Wis. (Sept. 5, 2013)-- Jasmine Espino found the back of the net in the third minute of overtime, giving host and 19th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside the 1-0 victory over Ferris State University in the season opener on Thursday afternoon at Wood Road Field.

Espino's third career game-winner came two minutes and 31 seconds into the extra session, beating the keeper after the ball was threaded through to her from Ashley Meyer and Alex Johnson. This is the second straight season opener Espino and Meyer have connected for the game-winner. An Espino goal in the 82nd minute off a Meyer assist gave the Rangers a 3-2 victory over Northwood University on August 30, 2012.

Mallory Geurts collected a shutout in her debut in goal for the Rangers, turning away all three shots she faced. The Bulldogs' Rachel McCollum was hit with the loss, collecting six saves on the day.

UW-P owned a 13-10 edge in shots during the contest, including the lone shot attempted in overtime.

The Rangers return to the pitch on Saturday, hosting Michigan Tech University. Kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. inside Wood Road Field.
