SAINT LOUIS, Mo. (Sept. 28, 2013)-- Unforced errors sabotaged the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-2 (25-19, 25-17, 15-25, 21-25, 15-11) decision against host University of Missouri-Saint Louis in a Great Lakes Valley Conference clash inside the Mark Twain Building.
The Rangers (7-5, 1-2) were undermined by a slew of miscues, committing a season high 29 attack errors and 14 service errors.
The host Tritons (8-4, 4-0) claimed the opening set 25-19 before leading wire-to-wire in set two, securing a 25-17 win. UW-Parkside responded in the third set, never trailing in a 25-15 win before seizing the fourth set 25-21 to level the contest and force a decisive fifth set.
UW-P opened the final set with a kill by
Rebecca Roembke but UMSL tallied the next four points and led the rest of the way, claiming the set 15-11 to earn the match victory.
Bridget Nickel returned to the lineup and led the Rangers with 17 kills.
Rebecca Roembke posted a career-high 13 kills while also collecting 17 digs while
Kendyl Danelski finished with a season-high 11 kills along with seven blocks.
Lauren Hickson tallied 42 assists while
Sarah Mlachnik and
Jessi Mainczyk finished with 30 and 12 digs, respectively.
Chelsea Burkle led UMSL with 12 kills.
The Rangers return to the court tomorrow afternoon, remaining in the Saint Louis area as they face Maryville University at 1 p.m.
