SOMERS, Wis. (Sept. 22, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team suffered its first setback of the Great Lakes Valley Conference season on Sunday, falling 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-15) to 14th-ranked Truman State University inside DeSimone Gymnasium.
The host Rangers (7-4, 1-1 GLVC) collected the match's opening point before the visiting Bulldogs (6-4, 1-1 GLVC) took over, rattling off the next five points and claiming an early 11-3 advantage in set one. Truman State breezed to the 25-11 win in set one and never trailed in sets two or three, winning 25-20 and 25-15 to secure the three-set sweep.
Lauren Hickson led UW-Parkside with seven kills with Kendyl Danelski and Meghan Conley each contributing six. Hickson collected a team-high 17 assists while defensively, Sarah Mlachnik and Jessi Mainczyk finished with 16 and 11 digs, respectively.
Truman's Abby Hiese notched a match-high 10 kills while Meghan Zimmerman served up 25 assists. Seven of the Bulldog's 11 blocks came off the hands of Emilee Walters who notched two solo blocks and five assisted blocks.
The loss, snaps the Rangers win streak at three matches. UW-Parkside will look to rebound on Saturday, hit the road for the first time in GLVC play to face the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. First serve is slated for 5 p.m.
