EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Mar. 9, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team saw its 2013 Deaconess Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament run come to a close on Saturday night in the semifinals, stumbling 61-59 to 21st-ranked Lewis University. The Rangers trailed by as many as 13 points in a game featuring four lead changes and three ties.

The top-seeded Flyers (23-5) led by 10 at the half before growing the advantage to 13 points with 16:06 left in the second half. The fifth-seeded Rangers (19-9) battled back, mounting a 15-0 lead to take their first lead of the night at 48-45 with 10:19 left after Jenna Endisch buried a three-pointer off a feed from Jaleesa Trussell.

Lewis countered with eight straight to reclaim the lead and stake a 53-48 advantage. UWP erased the deficit and tied the contest at 55 after Trussell converted a three the old fashioned way, hitting a layup and sinking a free throw with 3:54 left in the contest. Gaby Bronson push the pendulum back in favor of the Rangers after making one of two free throws but the Flyers utilized a Jess Reinhart layup to grab a 57-56 edge with 2:10 remaining. Lewis grew the advantage to five points before Endisch canned a three with 17.6 seconds to pull the Rangers within two at 61-59.

Trussell stole the inbounds play, giving the Rangers one final shot at the win with 14.8 seconds left. UWP misfired on a pair of shots as the Flyers held on for the two-point win.

The Flyers claimed an early 8-2 advantage less than five minutes into the contest. The Rangers closed the gap to just a point at 16-15 with 10:32 left in the first half off a Gaby Bronson free throw with Sierra West accounting for eight of the squad's 15 points. Lewis responded with seven in a row to increase their buffer to eight points with 4:27 left in the first 20 minutes of play.

UW-Parkside knifed the deficit to just four off a West jumper with just over two minutes before the half but Lewis ended the opening frame with an 8-2 run to take a 10-point 33-23 lead into intermission. The Flyers were on fire in the first 20 minutes of play, shooting 61.9 percent (13-for-21) while holding the Rangers to just 29.6 percent (eight-for-27).

Knapstein led the Rangers with 14 points while West and Endisch added 10 apiece. Trussell chipped in nine with a game-high eight rebounds.

Jess Reinhart paced Lewis with 18 points with Same Rinehart tallying an even dozen. Labrenthia Murdock scored nine with a game-high 10 boards. After shooting 61.9 percent in the first half, Lewis shot a paltry 28.1 percent (nine-for-32) in the second half.

The Rangers will discover their NCAA Division II Tournament fate on Sunday night when the NCAA Division II selection committee releases the 64-team bracket.
