INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Mar. 29, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside softball team faced its second straight ranked opponent, dropping a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader to second-ranked University of Indianapolis on Friday at Baumgartner Field. The Rangers fell 8-0 in the opener before suffering a 7-0 setback in game two.

The Greyhounds (26-2, 8-0 GLVC) scored in bunches in the opener, coming away with the 8-0 shutout in a contest shortened to just six innings. UIndy tallied three runs in both the third and fifth innings while adding two more in the sixth to enact the mercy rule.

In the circle, Kelynn Sporer suffered the loss for UW-Parkside (5-16, 2-7 GLVC), allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings of work. UIndy's Jessica DeMotte earned the victory, tossing a complete game one-hitter, recording seven strikeouts.

In game two, UIndy pushed across three runs in the fourth inning and four more in the sixth to secure the sweep. 

Alexis Simone paced the Rangers' offense in game two, finishing two-for-three at the plate.

Kristin Kleinmeyer was tagged with the defeat, striking out three in 5 2/3 innings of action while Morgan Foley earned the win, tossing the opening six innings and striking out 11.

The Rangers close out the road trip on Saturday, facing Saint Joseph's College in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
