LEBANON, Ill. (Nov. 15, 2013)-- The race for final slots to the 2013 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament just got more crowded with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team falling 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-17) to host McKendree University on Friday night at the Statham Center. A win would have eliminated the Bearcats and virtually locked a spot for the Rangers who now face a must-win on Saturday with five teams scrambling for the two wild card spots to next weekend's league tournament.

The Rangers (18-12, 8-9 GLVC) claimed the opening point of set one but it was all Bearcats (13-17, 8-9 GLVC) after that as the home side utilized a 9-0 spurt to secure a 25-11 set win. UW-Parkside claimed four of the first five points in set two and held an 11-9 edge after a Kendyl Danelski kill. McKendree rallied to tie the set at 11 and the two teams traded points until with the score netted 17-17, the hosts launched an 8-4 run to secure a 25-21 set win.

McKendree accumulated the first seven points of the third set and never looked back, cruising to the 25-17 win to claim the match.

Lauren Hickson and Rebecca Roembke each tallied seven kills to lead the Rangers. Chelsea Neave led the squad with 14 assists while Hickson added 13 while Sarah Mlachnik led the team on defense with 15 digs.

Hannah Wessel led McKendree with 10 kills. Breanna Howe had a match-high 17 assists while Maddie Kelly had 15 digs.

UW-Parkside finishes the regular season on Saturday at 3 p.m. taking on the University of Illinois Springfield.
