SOMERS, Wis. (Oct. 4, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team needed just three sets to dispose Great Lakes Valley Conference rival University of Illinois Springfield, opening a five-match homestand in style on Friday night with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-19) victory in front of the partisan crowd inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

The Rangers (8-6, 2-3 GLVC) trailed 20-18 in the opening set before rattling off seven straight points to secure the 25-20 set victory. Six of those points came off the serve of Chelsea Neave who collected a service ace while Meghan Conley tallied a pair of kills. Bridget Nickel earned a kill during the run while a Meghan Conley solo block secured the 25th and final point of the set.

UW-Parkside tallied four of the first five points in the second set but the Prairie Stars (4-8, 2-3 GLVC) battled back, securing the lead at 6-5. The two sides traded jabs until the Rangers finished the set on a 10-4 run, earning the 25-17 win. UW-P wrapped up the match in the third, prevailing 25-19 to improve to 6-2 on the season inside DeSimone Gymnasium.

Kendyl Danelski led the Rangers with 11 kills while Nickel tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs. Makenzie Fahnestock finished with nine kills while Lauren Hickson led the team in assists with 39 helpers. Conley finished with seven blocks (three solo, four assisted) while Sarah Mlachnik tied with Nickel for a team-high in digs with 14.

Kellee Mahaffay led UIS with nine kills. JoAnna Hoffman had 22 assists with Kayla Katarzynski leading the way with 14 digs.

The Rangers return to the court on Saturday afternoon, hosting McKendree University at 3 p.m.
