MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Oct. 31, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball squad extended its win streak to four on Thursday night, emerging from Panella Court with a 3-1 (25-16, 25-15, 22-25, 25-19) victory on Halloween at the expense of Cardinal Stritch University, snapping the host Wolves 13-match win streak.
The Rangers (15-9) led wire-to-wire in the opening set, claiming 11 of the first 15 points and cruising to the 25-16 set win. UW-Parkside staked a 2-0 lead in the match after closing set two on a 10-4 run, winning the set by a comfortable 25-15 margin.
Despite grabbing the first five points of the set, the Rangers were unable to close the Wolves (25-10) in three with the homestanding squad squeaking out the 25-22 win in the third set. The Rangers never trailed in the fourth set, posting a 25-19 win to secure the match win.
Makenzie Fahnestock posted a double-double, posting a game-high 14 kills while also collecting 13 digs.
Jeni Heller added 11 kills while
Rebecca Roembke and
Lisa Gregerson each had eight.
Lauren Hickson finished with 32 assists with
Chelsea Neave tallying 13 while
Kendyl Danelski paced the Rangers with seven blocks.
Sarah Mlachnik secured a team-high 18 digs.
Monique Morris had 13 kills to pace Stritch while also posting a game-high 25 digs.
The Rangers returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Saturday, welcoming West Division rival William Jewell College to DeSimone Gymnasium. First serve is slated for 5 p.m.
