INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct 19, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball squad was unable to keep pace with Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division rival University of Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-19) inside the Ruth Lilly Center.
The Rangers (11-9, 5-6 GLVC) claimed an early advantage in the opening set, securing a 9-4 lead. The host Greyhounds (12-8, 8-3 GLVC) tallied nine of the next 11 points, forcing a UW-Parkside timeout. UIndy built a 19-14 advantage but the Rangers pulled to within three at 21-19. Indianapolis finished off the set with four of the final five points to earn the 25-20 win in set one.
Indianapolis claimed the opening four points of set two and never looked back, earning the 25-13 win. The Ranger held an early lead in set three and trailed by just two at 13-11 before the Hounds pulled away with an 11-5 run eventually claiming the set 25-19 to secure the three-set sweep.
Lisa Gregerson led the Rangers with seven kills with
Makenzie Fahnestock and
Jeni Heller each adding six kills.
Lauren Hickson tallied a team-high 26 assists while
Sarah Mlachnik posted a match-high 17 digs.
Becca Lira and Brittany Anglemyer led UIndy with nine kills each while Meghan Binkerd notched a match-high 33 assists.
The Rangers return to the court on Friday, heading to Aurora, Ill., for the annual GLVC-GLIAC Challenge.
