RENSSELAER, Ind. (Jan. 31, 2013)-- A 26-3 run midway through the opening half paved the way for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team's third straight victory, blowing out host Saint Joseph's College 62-38 on Thursday night in a Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division showdown inside Alumni Fieldhouse.

It was a volatile opening nine minutes of play with the two squads trading leads three times with four ties. A Tara Knapstein jumper with 11:01 left in the first half touched off a 26-3 run for UW-Parkside (12-6, 6-4 GLVC), turning a 9-7 Puma edge into a 21-point Ranger lead with 1:44 left before intermission. UW-Parkside buried four treys during the spurt including three off the hands of Kristin Conniff.

UWP, winners of three straight and four of its last five, enjoyed a 33-16 lead at the break and never looked back, maintaining at least a 17-point buffer the final 20 minutes of action.

Gaby Bronson and Kristin Conniff paced the Rangers scoring efforts both coming off the bench and tallying a dozen points. Bronson collected 12 points along with four rebounds and three steals while Conniff posted a career-high 12 points in 15 minutes of action, scoring all of her points from beyond the arc. Tara Knapstein finished one point shy of a double-double, posting nine points and 10 rebounds while Sierra West chipped in nine points, all of which came from long range.

Kiki Wilson led host SJC (1-18, 0-11 GLVC), pouring on a game-high 21 points along with six boards. Shaquina Scott was the only other Puma with more than four points, finishing with six points.

The Ranger defense clamped down on St. Joseph's limiting the home squad to shooting just 27.8 percent (15-for-54) on the night, including a paltry 18.5 percent (five-for-27) in the opening stanza. UWP owned a 20-6 edge in points off turnovers while outdueling the Puma bench by a 35-10 margin.

UW-Parkside returns to the floor on Saturday, hosting 19th-ranked University of Indianapolis at 1 p.m. on Alumni Day inside DeSimone Gymnasium.
