SOMERS, Wis. (Jan. 24, 2013)-- Jenna Endisch poured on 22 points helping the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team stunned 23rd-ranked University of Southern Indiana 69-53 on Thursday night in a Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division clash inside DeSimone Gymnasium.
The Rangers (10-6, 4-4 GLVC) utilized an 11-0 run midway through the second half to reclaim the lead and never looked back, improving their record inside DeSimone Gymnasium to an impressive 48-5 over the past four seasons. UW-Parkside trailed 48-45 before Endisch drained a three-pointer to knot the score with 7:50 remaining and spark the run, eventually building an eight-point edge with five minutes remaining.
Southern Indiana (13-3, 5-3 GLVC) cut the Ranger lead to just five points with 4:20 remaining off a pair of free throws but the Screaming Eagles mustered just one point the rest of the way as UWP ended the contest on a 12-1 binge to secure the upset victory.
UW-Parkside led by as many as seven points in the opening half, enjoying a 27-22 advantage at the break in a half featuring four ties and three-lead changes. The opening 10 minutes of the second half played out a similar script as the first half with neither squad leading by more than four points before the Rangers mounted their 11-0 surge to pull away.
All five of Endisch's field goals came from beyond the arc as the sharpshooter ended the contest five-for-nine from three-point range while also grabbing six rebounds.
Jaleesa Trussell finished one point shy of her season-high, coming off the bench and chipping in 15 points while
Sierra West tallied 14 points along with a game-high seven assists.
Danielle Slivka led the Rangers on the glass, grabbing a season-high 11 rebounds while also adding seven points on the offensive end.
Anna Hackert collected the lone double-double of the night, pacing USI with 19 points and 10 boards while Mary O"Keefe added 11 points.
UW-Parkside shot 52.3 percent (23-for-44) from the field in the victory including a red-hot 70.6 percent (12-for-17) in the second half while limiting the visiting Eagles to shooting at just a 36.4 percent (20-for-56) clip. The Rangers enjoyed a 35-28 rebounding edge and held a 16-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
The Rangers close out their homestand on Saturday, squaring off against Kentucky Wesleyan College with tipoff slated for 1 p.m.
