SOMERS, Wis. (Jan. 21, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team was unable to take charge in a see-saw battle on Monday night inside DeSimone Gymnasium, falling 63-58 to Lewis University in a Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division clash featuring four lead changes and six ties.

The Rangers (9-6, 3-4 GLVC) trailed by just a point with 66 seconds left but the visiting Flyers (12-3, 5-2 GLVC) converted four straight free throws down the stretch while forcing a Ranger turnover and a missed shot to hold on for the victory.

The Flyers staked an early 15-8 lead just over nine minutes into the contest. Lewis led by as many as eight points before the Ranger struck back, taking their first lead of the night courtesy of a 9-0 run to secure a 27-26 lead with 3:01 remaining in the opening half. The lead was fleeting with Lewis reclaiming the advantage less than a minute later as UW-Parkside trailed 33-29 at the half.

Neither team held a lead greater than five points in a second half that provided two lead changes and three ties. A Kiah Simon free throw with 16:50 remaining in the game provided the Rangers a 38-37 edge in what proved to be the home side's final lead of the night as a Jess Reinhart jumper gave the lead back to Lewis on the ensuing possession. A Jenna Endisch three-pointer with 13 minutes left tied the contest at 43 but the Rangers were unable to pull ahead.

Lewis upped its advantage to five with 6:42 remaining before UWP crawled back, pulling within a point with 4:40 left, again at the 3:38 mark and finally with 66 ticks left off a Danielle Slivka free throw.

Endisch led the Rangers with 12 points for her 12th double-double of the season. Slivka added nine points and a team-high eight rebounds while Sierra West contributed nine points and six assists. Tara Knapstein dropped eight points while Gaby Bronson came off the bench and added eight.

The Flyers' Jess Reinhart paced all scorers with 22 points while Sam Rinehart tallied 13 points while grabbing a game-high nine boards.

The Rangers continue their homestand on Thursday, welcoming the University of Southern Indiana to DeSimone Gymnasium for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
