SOMERS, Wis. (Jan. 12, 2013)-- It was another rollercoaster game for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team, battling back and forth with visiting William Jewell College in a Great Lakes Valley Conference clash that featured five lead changes and two ties. In the end, it was the visiting Cardinals who came out on top, edging the Rangers 64-61 inside DeSimone Gymnasium on Saturday despite Danielle Slivka posting her first double-double of the season.

The host Rangers (8-4, 2-2 GLVC) claimed the game's first bucket and led 6-5 after a pair of Slivka free throws with 16:43 remaining in the opening frame before William Jewell (8-4, 2-2 GLVC) rattled off a 17-5 run over the next nine minutes, grabbing a double-digit advantage. Jenna Endisch canned a three-pointer with 67 seconds left in the half, as the Rangers entered the locker room trailing 30-23, shooting just 30 percent (nine-for-30) from the floor while the Cardinals drained 52 percent(13-for-25) of their opportunities.

Endisch's three sparked an 11-0 Ranger run, spanning across the two halves, as a jumper and a pair of free throws by Slivka closed the gap to just one point at 31-30 with 18:23 left in the second half. Jewell answered with a 28-17 spurt to reclaim a double digit lead with 7:53 remaining.

UW-Parkside mounted a late run before eventually running out of time, closing the contest on a 9-2 run to close with three points of Jewell. Endisch once again sparked the rally, hitting a three with 5:45 left in the game. A Jaleesa Trussell layup with 4:14 left cut the gap to just three before WJC's Jessie Wheeler converted a layup with just under two minutes left in what turned out to be the final field goal of the day. Gaby Bronson pulled the Rangers to within three again by sinking a pair of free throws with 64 seconds left in what turned out to be the final scores of the game.

The Rangers had an opportunity to tie the game in the waning moments but a three-pointer with five seconds left missed the mark, making Jewell just the fourth opponent in the last 56 games to emerge from DeSimone Gymnasium with a win over the women's basketball program.

Slivka paced the Rangers, collecting a season-high 14 points and 10 rebounds. Slivka was one of four Rangers to end the game in double figures. Trussell added 13 points while Sierra West finished with 12 points and a game-high eight assists. Gaby Bronson finished one rebound shy of a double double, chipping in 12 points along with three blocks on the defensive end.

Katlyn Wood led the Cardinals with a game-high 18 points. Wheeler came off the bench and added 17 points with Aerial Smith and Cassy Nicolay both adding 10 points. Jewell's bench outdueled the Rangers by a 19-2 margin

The Rangers embark on their second road swing of league play next week, shipping down to Louisville, Ky. on Thursday to face East Division nemesis Bellarmine University. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
