OWENSBORO, Ky. (Sept. 23, 2012)-- Tallying a season-high five goals, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team returned to the win column on Sunday afternoon, downing host Kentucky Wesleyan College, 5-1, in Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Panther Field.

Kelsey Armour broke open the scoreless affair in the 37th minute, scoring off a Crystal Chalery assist before doubling the Ranger advantage 98 seconds later with another goal, this time off a feed from Karley Mecko. Megan Owens upped the UWP lead to 3-0 in the 43rd minute with Brynn Darga getting credit with the assist as the Rangers (4-3-1, 3-3 GLVC) enjoyed a three-goal buffer at the halftime intermission.

Emily Konior pushed the UWP lead to 4-0 with a goal 26 seconds into the second half off an assist from Katie Gavin. The host Panthers (0-6, 0-7 GLVC) broke up the shutout in the 58th minute with a goal by Paige Kramer while Chalery concluded the scoring with a Ranger goal in the 69th minute with Darga tallying her second assist of the contest.

UW-Parkside enjoyed a 36-8 edge in shots while holding an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Michelle Girard and Gloria Castaneda split time in goal for the Rangers. Girard made the start and logged one save in the opening hald while Castaneda recorded five saves and conceded one goal in the second half. KWC's Alissa Schultz tallied 16 saves on the day in the losing effort.

The Rangers return to the pitch on Friday, welcoming Bellarmine University to Wood Road Field with kickoff slated for 3:30 p.m.
