ROMEOVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2012)-- Stumbling by razor-thin margins in two of the three sets played, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 33-31) setback at the hands of Lewis University on Tuesday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match inside Carey Arena.
The Rangers (8-3, 1-2 GLVC) fell 25-22 in the opening set as the Flyers (5-6, 2-1 GLVC) tallied four of the final five points before falling 25-16 in set two. The final set turned into a marathon with Lewis eventually emerging with the 33-31 win to secure the match in a set that featured 14 ties.
Bridget Nickel finished with a match-high 16 kills with
Kendyl Danelski and
Meghan Conley both adding seven.
Tricia Tirabassi had 15 assists and seven digs while
Chelsea Neave chipped in 11 assists.
Sarah Mlachnik paced the defense with 12 digs.
Pacing Lewis was Colleen Mitros with 14 kills while Leigh Barea tallied a match-high 38 assists and Mary Carroll added 14 digs.
The Rangers return to the court on Friday, hosting the University of Southern Indiana at 7 p.m.
