INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 14, 2012)-- Unable to keep pace with the nation's 10th-ranked squad, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-8) setback to host University of Indianapolis on Friday evening at the Ruth Lilly Center in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams.
The 10th-ranked Greyhounds (7-2, 1-0 GLVC) never trailed in the opening set in the 25-17 victory while tallying the final five points of set two to emerge with the 25-14 decision. UIndy closed the night by mounting an 18-2 run in the final set, turning a 2-2 deadlock into a 20-4 buffer en route to the 25-8 victory to finish off the Rangers (7-2, 0-1 GLVC) and snap their four-match win streak.
Bridget Nickel led UW-Parkside with 10 kills offensively while
Makenzie Fahnestock added six.
Chelsea Neave amassed 13 assists while
Sarah Mlachnik had 13 digs with
Shannon Curtis collecting eight.
UIndy's Meghan Binkerd posted a game-high 31 assists while Amy Oldenburg recorded 17 digs. The Greyhounds finished the match with 10 services aces while the Rangers tallied a pair.
UW-Parkside is back in action tomorrow, traveling to Rensselaer, Ind. for a GLVC showdown with Saint Joseph's College at 3 p.m.
