ERIE, Pa. (Sept. 1, 2012)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team rolled to its third straight victory on Saturday, closing out the Gannon University Tournament with a 3-0 victory over Ohio Dominican University.
The Rangers (3-0) rolled up the Panthers (0-2) 25-12 and 25-10 before capping off the match with a 25-22 win in the third set to secure the sweep.
The opening set was tied at 8 apiece before UW-Parkside rattled off 13 of the next 15 points and 17 of the last 21 to earn the win. Set two was never in doubt with
Tricia Tirabassi serving up the first seven points, including three aces. The final set of the afternoon was a tight affair with nine ties before the Rangers tallied the final three points to secure the sweep.
Bridget Nickel finished the match with a game-high eight kills while
Makenzie Fahnestock and
Meghan Conley added seven and six kills, respectively. Tirabassi tallied 15 assists while Nickel logged 10 digs on the day.
In three games, UWP has yet to lose a set, finishing off Caldwell College (N.J.) and host Gannon by a 3-0 count on Friday to open the 2012 season.
The Rangers open up their home slate on Tuesday, hosting Winona State University in a non-conference clash beginning at 5:30 p.m. inside DeSimone Gymnasium.
