Game One (
Box Score)
The Greyhounds broke a scoreless tie in the third with an RBI-single by Jake Hartley. In the meantime, Indy starter JaVaun West was on his game throwing four straight perfect innings before the Rangers made their move in the fifth.
Cody Gilles walked to start the inning for the first base runner of the game.
Tyler Gieseking then broke up the no-hitter with a sharp single to left.
After a strikeout,
Chris Glynn delivered a big cut with a double to the gap in right center. That scored Gilles and tied the game at one. West was able to pitch out of the rest of the jam to keep the game even.
With
Andy Stochl settled in on the mound the Rangers captured the lead in the sixth.
John Brennan ripped a triple to the right field wall to ignite the rally.
West got a strikeout to keep Brennan at third but
Mike Anderson didn't let him off the hook. He ripped a liner to left that was caught but deep enough to score the go-ahead run for a 2-1 lead.
The Greyhounds struck back in the seventh inning to reclaim the lead and steal the game. Indy scored two runs without a hit. Three straight walks loaded the bases with nobody out. Indy then followed with a pair of sacrifice flies to take a 3-2 lead.
Parkside was unable to even things back up in the seventh, stranding a runner on second to end the game.
Stochl took the loss going all seven innings while allowing three runs on six hits.
Game Two (
Box Score)
Jacob Chandler stymied the Greyhounds for the first five innings allowing just one base hit. That changed in the sixth when Indy strung together to hits and a walk to load the bases and chase Chandler.
They ended up scoring five in the inning thanks in large part to a double by Tyler O'Daniel. His three-run drive to left cleared the bases and opened up the five-run cushion.
They added four more in the seventh on a grand slam by Nate Koontz.
Parkside was unable to get its offense going recording four hits in game two. Gieseking contributed two of them in his first two at-bats.
