The UW-Parkside men's basketball team fell to 25
th-ranked Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon, 84-57, at the DeSimone Gymnasium. It was the Rangers tenth game of the season against a nationally ranked opponent including eight of the last ten outings.
Jeremy Saffold led the Rangers with 13 points.
Conrad Krutwig and
Leneal Harris had a dozen with Krutwig pulling down seven rebounds.
Adrian Moss led the Greyhounds by recording the school's first-ever triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Rangers were hampered by a cold day from the floor shooting just 32.1% including a season-low 1-for-20 from three-point territory.
The Greyhounds jumped out early, earning a 12-5 lead less than five minutes into the game. Parkside responded by scoring six in a row to get within one.
ZIggy Riauka and
Leneal Harris had back-to-back hoops in front of two free throws by
Jeremy Saffold to cut it to 12-11.
Indy got it back up to five before the Rangers came back to tie it at 19. Riauka hit two free throws with 7:37 left in the half.
Conrad Krutwig scored from underneath on the next possession to knot the score.
The teams traded hoops to create a 21-21 tie before the Greyhounds started to pull away. Indy embarked on a 13-2 run to take an 11-point lead. Reece Chatham's lay-up with 21 seconds left sent the visitors to the locker room with a 36-25 advantage.
Parkside was able to get within eight on a few occasions early in the second half but another run by the Greyhounds stretched the lead back out.
Indianapolis shot 59.4% in the second half and 53.1% for the game. The Rangers won the turnover battle forcing 14 while giving it up just nine times.
The Rangers will close out the 2011-2012 season on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. against Lewis University. The program will honor their Seniors in a brief ceremony prior to the game.
