Volleyball Begins GLVC Tournament on Friday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 12, 2012)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside, winners of four straight matches, will begin the Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament on Friday against the University of Indianapolis as the league office unveiled the 2012 bracket on Sunday night for the three-day event held at the Indy South Sports Academy.

The top-three teams from the East and West Division and two wild cards make up the eight-team field with the winner earning the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Championship tournament. The single-elimination tournament consists of four first-round matches on Friday, followed by two semifinal games on Saturday evening, and the championship match on Sunday afternoon.

The Rangers (21-9, 10-8 GLVC) claimed the final wild card position and will be moved to the West Division for seeding purposes, earning the West No. 4 spot and will face No. 1 seed and East Division Champion Indianapolis in the first round on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Rangers and Greyhounds split their two matches this season, with UIndy prevailing on its home floor 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-8) on Sept. 14 while UW-Parkside returned the favor on Nov. 3, shocking the Greyhounds 3-2 (25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 20-25, 15-8).

Tickets for the tournament are $25 all-tournament pass, $10 adults, $5 students (with College ID), $5 senior (65+), $5 child (6-12), $3 group rate (8 or more), and FREE for children 5 and under.
