SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Oct. 7, 2012)-- Claiming victory in the final two sets of the afternoon, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside rolled past host Drury University 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference volleyball match at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
The visiting Rangers (12-6, 4-5 GLVC) claimed the opening set 25-21 before stumbling in a nail-biter 25-23 in the second set to the Panthers (8-11, 3-6 GLVC). Neither squad held a lead of greater than two points in the second set as Drury tallied the final two points of the contest to escape with the victory.
UW-Parkside returned the favor in set three, scoring the final three points to earn the 25-23 victory before gliding to the 25-14 win in set four to secure the match victory.
Bridget Nickel tallied a game-high 19 kills along with a team-high 20 digs with
Kendyl Danelski adding 15 kills.
Chelsea Neave and
Tricia Tirabassi had 25 and 24 assists, respectively.
Alex Smith paced Drury with 17 kills with Maddie Baumann collecting a game-high 29 assists. Brooke Foster led the Panther defensive efforts with 18 digs.
The Rangers return to the court on Friday for day one of the GLVC-GLIAC Challenge in Aurora, Ill.
