ROLLA, MO. (Oct. 6, 2012)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-22) setback to Missouri S&T University on Saturday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match.
The homestanding Miners (12-5, 8-0 GLVC) rolled to their eighth straight victory. S&T opened the match by turning a slim 11-10 advantage into a 25-17 victory in set number one before securing a 25-20 win over the Rangers (11-6, 3-5 GLVC) in set two. The Miners iced the match by scoring four of the final six points in set three to hold on for the 25-22 win.
Bridget Nickel led UW-Parkside with 15 kills with
Meghan Conley adding seven.
Chelsea Neave and
Tricia Tirabassi had 12 and 11 assists, respectively while
Sarah Mlachnik accumulated 18 digs.
Hayley Wright powered S&T with 12 kills while jennifer Costello tallied 41 of the team's 44 assists. Jennifer Kegler led the Miner defense with 16 digs.
The Rangers return to the court on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Drury University.
