SOMERS, Wis. (Oct. 24, 2012)-- An Emily Konior free kick was all that was needed on Wednesday afternoon as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's soccer team emerged from Wood Road Field with a 1-0 victory over Lewis University in its final Great Lakes Valley Conference match of the regular season.

Konior tallied the lone score in the 56th minute of play off a free kick, extending the Rangers' win streak to nine games while stretching the team's unbeaten run at home to 27 games (23-0-4), a streak dating all the way back to September of 2010.

Despite UW-Parkside (12-3-1, 11-3 GLVC) controlling much of the pace, the visiting Flyers (10-6-1, 8-6-1) held a 4-3 edge in shots at the break, including both shots on frame. Lewis ended the match outshooting the host Rangers by an 11-9 margin.

Michelle Girard made four clutch saves on the day to earn the clean sheet, extending the Rangers' streak to 662 minutes without yielding a goal, a streak now spanning eight games. Arianna Nie made the start in goal for the Flyers, handling the opening 45 minutes of play before giving way to Mara Bennett, who was saddled with the loss, yielding the lone score and making a pair of saves.

The Rangers await the results from the rest of the league to see if they will host a game of hit the road on Sunday in the opening round of the GLVC Tournament.
