Game Two Box Score

Indianapolis- The 19th-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds scored three first inning runs in the opener and never looked back as they swept the UW-Parkside softball team, 8-0 and 8-4. The Rangers finish GLVC play at 7-15.

Indianapolis took control of game one on a three-run home run in the opening inning by Cori Eckerle. The score remained 3-0 until the fourth when they put up three more. They tacked on two in the bottom of the fifth to end the game via the mercy rule.

Jennifer DeMotte, the GLVC's reigning player of the week, made her presence known as she allow just a fourth inning single to Lexi Sotiros. DeMotte went five innings allowing just the one baserunner while striking out five.

In game two the Rangers bats came alive and took an early lead. Kirsten Luevano drove in two with a double to the gap for a 2-0 lead. After Indy got a run back in the bottom half, Christine Holthus answered with an RBI-single to make it 3-1.

Unfortunately, Parkside was unable to hold the Greyhounds at bay. They scored in four of their final five at-bats, eventually taking the lead for good at 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth. They added three more in the bottom of the six to provide insurance.

Holthus briefly tied the game at four in the fourth with her second run-scoring hit. Her and Luevano each had two hits in the second game.

The Rangers will wrap up their season this week when they head to St. Xavier University. The official time and date have not yet been set.
