UWP closes regular season with a win

Box Score

Leneal Harris knocked down a three-point baseline jumper on the Rangers' final possession. Then, the visitors played solid defense, only permitting a desparation 30-footer by Michael Horton at the buzzer to post a 62-61 victory at Saint Joseph's College. The final regular season men's basketball game was contested in Rensselaer, Indiana, Saturday afternoon.

The win gave the Rangers the No. 11 seed in the coming Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament. They will play a first-round game at Southern Indiana, Saturday, Feb. 26. The Rangers and Screaming Eagles will tipoff at 7:30 p.m.

The Rangers led by as many as eight points in the first half against the Pumas. The visitors settled for a 33-28 halftime lead. Saint Joseph's used a 10-0 run in the second half to pull away from a 42-42 deadlock in taking a 10-point lead with 10 minutes to play. The Rangers whittled away at the gap, finally regaining the lead on Harris' game-winning shot.

Jeremy Saffold led the Rangers in scoring with 15 points. Harris finished with 11 and Tim Baines added 10 points.

Horton led all scorers with 23  points.
