The UW-Parkside men's basketball team clinched a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament by virtue of a Missouri S&T loss to Rockhurst Thursday night. While that game was going on, the Rangers fell at Illinois-Springfield, 85-79.
Parkside went down early, 15-2 and later 31-11, yet, pulled the game to within only point at 74-73 in the late stages. A pair of key three-point shots helped the Prairie Stars hold off their guests.
Leneal Harris paced the Rangers in points with 29.
Jeremy Saffold came off the bench to add 17.
The Rangers will travel to Saint Joseph's for their final game of the regular season. Tip time Saturday, Feb. 19, is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
Parkside will be on the road for a first round GLVC tournament game Saturday, Feb. 26, at a place and time to be determined; however, a Ranger loss Saturday would ensure a date with Bellarmine.
