Box Score

For the first time since the 2003 season, the UW-Parkside volleyball team will play for a chance to win the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship. Head coach Christine Paciero's Rangers swept Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday (25-14, 25-14, 25-17) to get their 10th league win of the season and secure at least a wild card spot in the postseason event. They are now 14-14 overall and 10-6 in the GLVC.

"This is a reward for the girls' perserverence through all the injuries," said Paciero. "It was stated goal for our team and a career goal accomplished by our seniors. We're looking to set a standard for the future of this program."

The Rangers have been decimated by injuries this year with four starters missing significant time due to injuries. Junior Caroline Langer was added to the list on Thursday when she suffered a knee injury and underwent surgery on Friday.

Parkside came up with one of its best performances this year in snapping a three game losing streak.

"We played one our cleanest matches of the year," said Paciero. "There haven't been many of these where we stayed in control from start to finish."

Bridget Nickel led the Rangers with 13 kills, 11 digs and a pair of blocks.

UWP had a pair of milestone's as well on Saturday. Addie Kramer had eight kills and a block, tying her for fifth on of the program's all-time blocks list. She also went over 300 kills in a season for the first time in her career.

Cayla Flood contributed a pair of aces to give her 56 on the season breaking her own school record she established last year. She now has 110 total leaving her just three shy of the career record.

The Rangers will return home to wrap up the regular season with a pair of matches at the DeSimone Gymnasium next weekend. First place Indianapolis comes to town on Friday for a 7:00 match. Saint Joseph's will be the opponent for the home finale Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
