Box Score
The UW-Parkside volleyball fell back to .500 on the season with a four set loss (19-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-25) against Wayne State University (MI) on Saturday. The Rangers are now 11-11 for the year. The match was the finale of a three game weekend at the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament.
Bridget Nickel led the Rangers with 14 kills while
Addie Kramer and
Caroline Langer each added 11.
Stacie Bower had 14 digs and
Cayla Flood added 13. Flood also recorded two aces, making her just the third Ranger to reach 100 service aces in her career.
Wayne State controlled much of the opening set but in the second the Rangers had a chance to even the match. With the game tied at 19, Parkside rattled off four straight points thanks to a couple of WSU errors and a key block from Flood and
Brooke Schowalter. A final WSU service error knotted the match at a game a piece.
In the third the Rangers found themselves in an identical 19-19 tie. This time however it was Wayne State that responded, scoring six of the final nine points to take control of the match.
The fourth set turned out to be all WSU as they jumped out to a 10-6 lead early. That was as close as the Rangers could get the rest of the way in dropping to 1-2 at the tournament.
Parkside will be back home Wednesday night for a non-conference match with Judson University. They will then embark on a five game roadtrip beginning with a trip to Bellarmine University of Saturday in Louisville.
