Parkside took game one easily, going on a 10-4 run to close out the set. Leading 15-12, the Rangers benefited from some errors from Saint Xavier to open a big lead. The set ended on an attack error by Kayla Mullaney.
Game two turned out to be the pivotal set and it appeared the Rangers would take it as easily as the first. They jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a couple of kills by Kramer and one from Marx. They actually led 20-11 before the Cougars charged back and stole the set.
At 22-14, Saint Xavier scored nine straight points and the Rangers were unable to recover. They evened the score back up a couple times but could never recapture the lead.
From there it was all Cougars as they jumped out to leads of 16-6 and 13-6 in the next two sets and never looked back.
The Rangers will now head to the Mizuno GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament this weekend in Aurora, IL. The Rangers will open tournament play on Friday morning when they take on eighth-ranked Hillsdale College.
