The Ranger men's basketball squad fell to 4-8 in conference play and 7-12 overall after an 87-67 loss at the University of Indianapolis Thursday night. The Rangers did not go away quietly, however, putting on a notable second-half surge.
The Greyhounds came out hot, jumping out to a 16-4 lead. Indianapolis also closed the half strong, going on to a commanding 45-21 bulge at intermission.
The Rangers were able to make a solid run in the second half. Down 60-38, they went on a 24-11 charge to get the lead down to nine with just under 5 minutes to play in the game. The Rangers cut the gap to as many as eight with a little more than 4 minutes to play.
Indianapolis followed this with a quick 8-1 run to shut down any chance of a full comeback.
Indianapolis, a team which was coming off a stunning win against No. 4 ranked Southern Indiana, jumped to a 15-4 overall record. The club is 8-3 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The Rangers will stay in Indiana as they face the University of Southern Indiana on Saturday January 29, at 3:15 p.m.
