Saints march out with win

           Despite jumping out to a 13-0 lead, the UW-Parkside men's basketball team fell to Maryville in the DeSimone Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The visiting Saints pulled out a 71-66 victory, their first in the Great Lakes Valley Conference this season.

            UW-Parkside slipped to 7-11 overall and 4-7 in league play. The Saints are 4-13 overall and 1-9 in the conference.

            The Saints shot an incredible 81 percent from floor in the second half, making good on 17 or 21 from the floor. The team shot 65 percent for the game.

            Maryville overcame its early deficit by halftime, leading 26-25. The team built its biggest lead at 52-39 with 10:50 to go in the game.

            Parkside chopped the gap all the way down to 67-66 on a Tim Baines layup with 26 ticks left. But, those were Parkside's final points.

            Mach led the Rangers in scoring with 21 points.  Baines added 12.

            The Rangers will next play at Indianapolis Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
