A solid Northern Kentucky men's basketball team came into the DeSimone Gymnasium and topped UW-Parkside, 81-64, Saturday afternoon.
The Rangers last held the lead at 14-13, 7 minutes into the Great Lakes Valley Conference contest. The lead changed hands five times in the early going.
The Norse later pulled out to a 40-29 halftime lead.
UW-Parkside got to within 62-52 on a free throw by Tim Baines with 6:22 to go in the game, before the Norse pulled away again.
Leneal Harris led the Rangers in scoring with 18 points. Three teammates joined him in double figures including Baines with 15; Jordan Mach with 13 and Sam Katula with 10.
Bobby Shannon paced the Norse with 21 points.
Northern Kentucky shot a torrid 57 percent for the game. The Rangers also shot the ball well, making good on an even 50 percent of their shots.
The Norse are now 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the GLVC. Parkside slipped to 6-9 overall and 3-5 in the league.
The Rangers will return to action Monday, Jan. 17. The team will be in Springfield, Missouri, taking on host Drury at 7:30 p.m.
