Game 1 Game 2
The day could not have gone much better for the eight seniors on the UW-Parkside softball team. The squad beat visiting Drury on Senior Day in both ends of a doubleheader, 9-1 and 3-2, clinching a Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament berth along the way.
The Rangers came into the afternoon needing to win one game to clinch, or there would be no post season. The team came through in a big way, beating the Panthers via slaughter rule in six innings in Game One, 9-1.
Parkside came back for a 3-2 encore in Game Two.
In the opener, Kallie Walcxak pitched a three-hitter to pick up her ninth win of the season versus seven loses. She struck out a dozen and did not walk a batter. Drury only stranded two on base.
The Rangers out-hit their guests, 12-3.
Stephanie Luska had the hat trick in hits.
Alyssa Wilson jacked one out.
In Game Two,
Jill Vondrak was the starting and winning pitcher. She upped her record to 9-3.
Jessica Bryant worked two scoreless innings in picking up a save.
At the plate,
Krista Kelly had two of the Rangers' seven hits including a home run.
The Rangers still have two more games on the schedule prior to the conference tournament. They will travel to Winona State for a doubleheader on Tuesday, May 25.
