Ranger Winner Game Two
The UW-Parkside softball team staged its second annual Pink Games Tuesday afternoon. The host Rangers knocked off visiting Saint Xavier in Game One, 5-4, in nine innings. The Cougars came back to take the nightcap, 9-3.
Saint Xavier is an NAIA school which competes in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The Rangers are 22-17 heading into the final week of the regular season. Saint Xavier is 26-15.
In Game One,
Kallie Walczak made her first appearance since throwing a perfect game last week. She came on in relief of
Jessica Bryant to get the win. Although Walczak had a blown save, she worked the final three-and-a-third innings to pick up her eighth win against seven losses. The strikeout machine fanned five and did not walk a batter.
Saint Xavier out-hit the Rangers, 12-8.
Christine Holthus muscled up for a circuit clout for the Rangers.
It was all Cougars in Game Two. The visitors pushed four across in the top of the second and were well on their way to victory.
Lanaya Gutowski had her pitching record level to 3-3 for UWP.
Jill Vondrak came on in relief.
Ranger
Lisa Casey had two hits in each game.
UW-Parkside will host Rockhurst at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1.
