Lewis University is ranked No. 4 in the Midwest Region in softball and No. 13 in the nation. The team has cracked the top 20 on a national basis this season. The Flyers hosted UW-Parkside in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon and got far more than they bargained for.
The Rangers took both ends of the twinbill, taking the opener, 9-6, and then winning via slaughter rule in five innings 8-0.
The twin wins pushes the Ranger record to 18-12 overall. The squad is 9-7 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play and is ascending in the standings, see:

Lewis is a stellar 21-9 overall and is 11-5 in league play.
In Game One, the Rangers scored in four consecutive innings, putting crooked numbers on the board in frames three through five, the latter of which tagged the Flyers with a four-spot.
Krista Kelly and
Amy Horn jacked home runs in the contest, their sixth and fifth of the season respectively. Kelly, the reigning GLVC Player of the Week, had four RBI in the contest and was 4-5 with two runs scored. Horn and
Alyssa Wilson each had the hat trick in hits in the Rangers' 18-hit attack.
Jill Vondrak pitched all seven innings for Parkside. She gave up three earned runs, struck out four and walked four.
In the second game shutout,
Kallie Walczak pitched a two-hitter. She fanned seven in the five-inning game.
The Rangers pounded the Flyers with a dozen hits with eight of the nine starters picking up a knock.
