Box Score

An always formidable Cardinal Stritch men's basketball team challenged the Rangers in the DeSimone Gymnasium Tuesday night. The Rangers had their hands full early, but pulled away in the second half and scored an 87-74 victory in non-conference action.

Each team is now at the .500 mark. The Wolves, who qualified for NAIA nationals last season, are 6-6. The Rangers have ridden a three-game winning streak to a 4-4 mark.

The momentum started for the Rangers at the first half buzzer. Trailing by one, Sam Katula put a three-pointer in the score book, hitting a shot from the deep left corner, giving the Rangers a 38-36 lead at halftime.

The Rangers grabbed their first double digit lead at 62-52 with 9 minutes left in the contest. Tim Baines, who came up with a season-high 25 points, scored inside on back-to-back possessions for the 10-point bulge.

The Wolves pulled to within four points before the Rangers built the lead back to seven. With a seven-point lead and the basketball and 3 minutes left on the clock, Jeremy Saffold launched a 30-footer in an attempt to beat the expiring shot clock. The ball found the bottom of the net and the Rangers were on their way to a win.

Saffold scored a season-high 23 points. Navjot Singh was Cardinal Stritch's leading scorer with 24 points.

The Rangers scorched the nets with 62 percent shooting, making good on 29 of 47 shots from the floor. Parkside put down 10 shots from behind the arc in 18 attempts.

UW-Parkside will host Ferris State, and pre-season National Player of the Year, Justin Keenan, Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 7:00 p.m.
